How many will sell theirX-Vario to buy a newT?

Not me. I like not having to think about what lenses to take...just throw it in the bag. I definitely don't want to invest in more lenses for Aps-C. For me, the Vario is a perfect addition to my M system. I don't want a whole other kit.

That being said, the unibody looks nice. I imagine a similar body construction will be incorporated on the M of the future.

I am happy with the package and quality and not having to carry with me several lenses. Maybe that changes once again in the future. For now I am looking for a small companion that fits in a pocket, therefore waiting for X2 prices to drop or the successor with a better screen.

It's probably targeted at people who will want to upgrade from their current NEX system to Leica. It's not an easy task as current APS-C cameras combined with appropriate lenses they do deliver.

Now if this camera comes with presets for the available wide lenses and ultra wides then it will make a difference.

So I believe that X-Vario is a keeper.

What if they offered a Leica quality zoom similar to the Fuji with an f2.8 to f4 and 28m to 85mm? The primes would be faster of course but for the one lens person, having a faster zoom would be very nice. Also suppose they managed to get the Panasonic fast AF in this camera, how would that influence your decision?

Aren't you making a mighty large soup from very few oysters? I think I'm going to postpone the answer to that until some answers are in.

According to leicarumors it will be a Leica VARIO-ELMAR-T ASPH 18-56mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens (27-84mm equivalent). So there is no need to speculate about a f2.8 to f4 lens and about how it would impact the buying decision...

By the way, I do not plan to switch (but you never know...).

Best regards, Gerd

I am aware of the Leica Rumors speculation. My question was just to see if a faster zoom would influence the buy decision. How good the "kit" lens will be remains to be seen. Presumably they will at some point offer a lens better than the kit lens.

I think you overrate the value of a fast lens vastly. Clean high ISO makes an extra investment both in money and weight/size far less attractive than it was before.

I won't change for the T, or the M, the MM or any exchangeable lens system. I may only change it for another XVario

Agreed. I specifically moved away from interchangeable lens cameras when I realised I was only really using one lens anyway. I wonder how many people buy interchangeable lens cameras from Canon and Nikon and then never remove the kit lens.
