Is the sliver top plate metal or plastic ?

Someone in the Leica shop just told me its aluminum, same as the black one I think

The Leica website says it is anodised, so presumably it is aluminium.

The silver on elook nice at pictures, same like the X1 was. But in real, I found (X1) looks better in black. The silver parts looks not "metallic enough" for me. So I prefer black version.

But I have to say the silver XVario looks pretty nice, and if the touch and feel fits to the picture, it will find many buyers.

Because the x1 has a plastic top. Silver plastic looks bad (eg x1, x2, x-e2)

As the x-vario has a metal top, it will look good

It has a pair of holes and with the supplied cord you can tether it to one of the strap lugs so you don't lose the lens cap ;)

Oh right. The black one I got a few weeks ago has that.
