"Lens error" after firmware 1.3 upgrade

I've just upgraded to firmware version 1.3. Everything seemed to go well and after I restarted the camera - with the 23mm f2 lens mounted - it asked me to restart the camera. When I did, the camera seemed to go an upgrade the lens firmware as well.

Now, when I start the camera I get a brief flash of a view through the lens and then a "Lens error" message. However if I press the lens release button everything goes back to working fine. Happens each time I turn the camera on. Has anyone else experienced this? Any help appreciated.

Try a different brand of SD card.

I had what sounds like the same problem and Leica sent me:

I have just learned that the technicians in the Leica Service Department have confirmed that the new firmware is not friendly with every card on the market. The SanDisk and Lexar cards they tried worked fine but issues have been reported with Hoodman, Raw Steel and Sony cards so far. I know that the Leica factory personnel don’t test with every card brand but this is a matter they’ll have to look at more closely.

No word yet on when 1.3.1 or 1.4 is coming out. I switched from Sony to SanDisk and the problem went away.

As I mentioned in the 1.3 firmware thread, I had one lens error immediately following the upgrade, and that has been it. I have been using Transcend high speed cards. Are the SanDisk cards that much faster?

As another note, I feel like 1.3 has introduced more "freezing while using the EVF and coming out of standby mode" issues.

Thank you both for your replies. I'm using a Samsung card at present. In any case I happened to take the battery out and inserted it in again and the problem seems to have gone away.

Strange. I also have a Sandisk card so I will keep that handy...
