Leica T Strap Mount

I love the strap mounting system....but, because there is no ring or pin hole to fix to, it is impossible to attach another other sort of strap to a Leica T. Does anyone know of anyone who has or will make a pin with a ring to fit in the strap socket on a T?

Seems like a new product to sell to us T owners, and we do like a new product ;)

Take your neck strap or buy another one and using an exacto knife cut the strap off. You just purchased two lugs for $40 each. Leica is unlikely to sell the lug pins for less. Now you can put on your own strap as long as nylon or leather strap that attaches to lug is ⅜" in width.

I agree, I tried the wrist strap on Friday and found it just that bit too short for comfort. Another #fail for Leica on the strap front.

If you need a wrist strap it's cheaper to buy the wrist one and modify as barjohn says.

Let's hope that either Leica or someone else gets the finger out and produces a fitting with an eye type lug quickly. IMO they would get a lot of sales.

so how do you attach your strap to the lugs?

If you look at the thread that has photos of my set up you can see that I saved the lug covers and slid them over the ⅜" nylon straps. The straps thread through the lug easily and then I threaded the strap through my leather wrist strap and used a nylon buckle to fasten it. There are numerous ways to do it. You could use a split ring to hook onto the bar or you could use a leather portion that goes through and is sewn on afterwards.

Below is the sequence starting with the lug on the end of the neck strap and progressing through to a completed wrist strap using just a nylon strap. Fancier is equally easy.

It took me over a week to reach that point myself; however, after you try and use the neck strap a few times in warm weather with just a T-shirt you realize that it is not a big loss. I will probably order a replacement just to have for the day I sell so I have a complete kit but not for actual use as it is not comfortable.

I totally agree John, a real failure on Leica's part. Even the (heavier) extendable strap uses the same silicone material and while able to be made a bit longer is just as uncomfortable. Design coming before practicality!

There's a facebook picture of Dr K using a T with an A&A strap. Although the detail is not too clear it looks to me as though the A&A's split ring is attached to the standard fitting.

We need a pin with the usual eye lug - pronto!

I'm not sure if this is allowed - either by Facebook rules (I'm not a member) or by the Forum rules as I don't know what camera was used to take the shot.

I understand, I'm not a member myself tried a bit of a search but came up with nothing was this on his own Facebook page.
