I have to say that I am a bit surprised at the response in this forum to the S2 price-list. All Lecia gear is expensive. In fact, it is not just that all Lecia gear is expense, but Leica gear is way way more expensive than the competition. This is especially true in their photography products, but what is different now is the company is venturing into an area where their cache' has not been a tradition and there is stiff competition from other low-volume, high-quality suppliers. I personally love all the Leica products I own, and I would not trade them for anything. That said, I would love to dump my existing DSLR gear and jump on the S2 bandwagon. My income is above average, but even that is inadequate to allow for the purchase of a camera and a couple of lenses. Like the others in this forum, I wish that Leica had chosen a price half as high for every item listed in their price-list. This would have made the S2 an instant success, not only with amateur gear-heads like me, but also with the pros who need to earn a living from their photography. My surprise regarding the LUG is the number and ferocity of complaints coming from folks who clearly own a lot of very expensive Leica gear (like late-model WATEs and 50 f1.0 lenses, all which are also out of my price range). With the exception of the Panasonic-Leica products, I have never seen Leica lower prices over time. This means that the common folk are never going to have a chance to purchase a S2. Bummer.

KS: Gosh; a reasonable take on the hysteria. Are you sure you're posting in the right place?

KS, you better look again at the M8.2 as they are selling well below their initial price.
