Printmaker Posted July 19, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I hate to ask but there is no where near by where I can try out a bag. I'm looking for a field bag for my S2 and 2-3 lenses that is easy to work with. I have a Hadley Pro which is too small, a Domkie which is also too small, and an Lowepro Omni Pro case that fits inside a Pelican 1450. The Omni Pro works but it is a sit it down on a table and unzip style and not a pull the camera from the bag on your hip style. Any ideas? What works for you? Thanks in advance.

A Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Bag works fine if style is not the main concern.

erlingmm Posted July 19, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 19, 2014 Billingham 555. Huge, but also has room for a portable PC/Mac, and even a Wicom tablet. It is probably more for transport than for walk-around. The special S case is very convenient for air/car travel, but probably would not count as a bag.

I use a Billingham 206 for S2 body with 35/70/120 lenses and SF58 flash. It works out nicely.
albireo_double Posted July 20, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Depending on how many lenses I wish to take with me, I use either a Billingham 307 or Billingham 445. When I travel just with the body and a zoom lens, I take the Think Tank holster 20 v2 (possibly with the chest harness, when hiking or cross country skiing) or a Dothebag Mono 05 (when I need to look more respectable). For hikes, I also like to use the F-stop Lokka rucksack, with the medium sloped insert.

I have a 225 for body + 2 small lenses, but it's not much bigger than your Hadley pro. The inner zippered flap retracts so it's pull from the hip. Maybe try farther up the 5 series.
albertknappmd Posted July 29, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 29, 2014 I have a Billingham 5 series as well but they are really heavy.. . I have been using a GURA GEAR Battaflae 32L as I have two S bodies. The bag is amazing and you may want to consider a smaller version for one body. Albert :D:D
Echo63 Posted July 30, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 30, 2014 I don't have an S, but both Thinktank and Crumpler make excellent bags, although Crumpler's stuff seems to get uglier and uglier every time they redesign - personally i love my Black (exterior) coffee (dark tan interior) 7million dollar home for an SLR, second lens and a flash, but the new colour ways are a bit odd. Thinktankphoto's warranty is excellent, and they listen to their customers too
Likaleica Posted August 14, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 14, 2014 LowePro Nova 5 handles camera, 30-90, 120, 180, flash, charger, spare batteries, filters, light meter, etc quite nicely for me.
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted June 20, 2015 Share #12 Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) Shit............. I have a Hadley pro and was hoping that would be okay for a S Body with the 120 and 24mm lenses....I guess not??????? Most of the time I like to carry my DSLR on a Rapid shoulder strap so I guess I will be using that same strap with the S Edited June 20, 2015 by Neil D
Rolo Posted June 20, 2015 Share #13 Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) I keep my S kit in a Tamrac photo rucksack and leave it in there with filters, V adapter, cards, etc. However, if I'm travelling a distance away from my car, I place the body and lens in the main compartment of a Domke F bag with another lens in one of the front pockets, filters and cards in the other, and remote release in the mini pockets. I have carried a 3rd lens in the bag, but it's all a bit tighter, but no problem if the camera body and a lens is outside the bag. In the back pocket and for low-light shots, I'll carry a Leica table top tripod with the small RRS quick release head and a small rain umbrella if the weather requires. I much prefer to use the camera on a hand-strap, but for the sake of changing lenses in the street, I'll submit to the neck strap. If I'm shooting portraits, I much prefer the extra hand grip which somehow allows me an extra couple of stops, down to 1/30 sec, providing I take a couple of frames to secure sharpness. Theres little to compare between an S and an M in terms of image quality. If you carry the two together, as I have done many times, you may well abandon the M. For street photography in general, the portability of the M works, but it's still a 35mm equivalent. Yes, detail from an M can be astounding, but other attributes can't match the S. It's the same, old MF verses 35mm argument again, but with a fabulous AF system thrown in with the S. Like others, my AF system is activated by pressing the back button., but I have one profile that is AF and Auto-Isofor when I'm shooting under pressure. Whilst Summarit-S 35mm is a heavy chunk of glass to carry on the camera, the 70mm is much smaller and is very well balanced for the S. Enjoy. ynp Posted June 21, 2015 Share #14 Posted June 21, 2015 My choice for the Leica S kit is F-Stop Guru. Very often I put inside , instead or on the top of the photo module, my Konig LiteBag2 equipped with the Leica-S insert. Konig bags are waterproof and I can fit my S2 with the 30-90mm. Zoom into the LiteBad2, it is specially designed for that. The rest of my lenses and accessories fit into either ICU pro Small or Medium. When I need to put some personal belongings together with my equipment , I use a bigger Loca bag. In the street I have my Konig bag over one shoulder, with my camera and a lens, and my tripod/ monopod over the other shoulder and a spare lens sits in a belt pouch. Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted June 21, 2015 Share #15 Posted June 21, 2015 will the S and two lenses fit in the Haley Pro bag???
topoxforddoc Posted June 21, 2015 Share #16 Posted June 21, 2015 I use a Billingham Packington. My S(006), 70/2.5 & 120/2.5 fit nicely into the 3 parts of the main compartment. My MB Air slips in as well. If I put the lenses in wraps, then I can fit a M9 and a lens in as well. By then, it's bloody heavy!

albireo_double Posted June 22, 2015 Share #19 Posted June 22, 2015 will the S and two lenses fit in the Haley Pro bag??? No, they won't. I have the Hadley Pro and use it for the M system. But the minimum for the S, in my experience is the Billingham 307.
erocks Posted June 22, 2015 Share #20 Posted June 22, 2015 I use the Gura Gear Bataflae 18 and can fit (with some space left) a S2 body, 120mm CS, 70mm, 30-90, flash, filters.
