miha Posted October 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) The mirror box lining has turn light grey on my R4S Mod.2. I guess it's less light absorbing now. Is there a way to re-blacken it... with a permanent marker perhaps?

sc_rufctr Posted October 27, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2014 The problem with using a permanent marker is that the foam used for this is often crumbling by now. If you touch it with anything it may just make it worse. I have the same issue on my R6.2 but some of the material has broken away and found it's way onto the focus screen. Right now I'm using a mini vacuum to clean away the loose bits. At some point I will replace the foams but the camera works fine as is so no great rush IMO.
miha Posted October 27, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted October 27, 2014 Thanks Peter. The lining seems fine, looks like velvet, no debris. The camera meter works perfectly in bright and less bright light, but when the light gets very dim (below f2, 1/8s, ISO 100), the meter tends to underexpose for 1-2 full stops compared to my other cameras. I was thinking it has to do with the mirror chamber being too light.
