edwardkaraa Posted December 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 10, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since no one really knows the extent of this problem, let's do our own LUF micro survey. Did your camera suffer from delamination? Just type yes or no. Below the answer, please give further information, like the model (M9, MM, ME) and any additional info you want to give but please keep it simple and factual.

ajramirez Posted December 10, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 10, 2014 Yes. Twice so far. Bought my M9P new in April 2012. By February 2013, it exhibited no less than 50 - 60 sensor spots. Sent to Leica NJ, who replaced the sensor under warranty. Camera is again exhibiting numerous delamination spots. Second time in two years. Neither sensor was ever wet cleaned, only with a Rocket Blower. I do live in Puerto Rico, which is fairly humid year round, which may have had an impact. tobey bilek Posted December 10, 2014 Share #8 Posted December 10, 2014 M9P. Bought the last of them whenever that was, Sept 2012 ? No spots so far. Wet cleaned with Eclipse one or two times. Live in northern Illinois in home with A/C. I have done the Rocket blower a few times also, & the wet was only to clean up what the what the blower or brush will not get. Probably will buy a gel stick soon, one for Leica, one for Nikons. I have started to use the self clean feature on all the Nikons. Careful lens changing with clean lenses & clean rear caps stops 99% of the problems. Pros in a hurry can not afford to be so careful.

dkCambridgeshire Posted December 10, 2014 Share #14 Posted December 10, 2014 Would be more meaningful if mods instigated a proper poll including SN ranges for each camera model and numbers of times sensor replaced i.e. Zero, 1 , 2 … and if camera replaced under PX scheme … and if user lives e.g. in humid climate. SN range equates to age regardless of whether purchased new or s/h or ex demo. By ascertaining total numbers of 'Zero', '1' and '2' … and comparing to the overall sample total, the % failure for say 250 cameras (if 250 replies) could be estimated. Currently we can only assume it's a 'not insignificant' problem. dunk

gravastar Posted December 10, 2014 Share #16 Posted December 10, 2014 Yes. Purchased 9-09-2009. Started to show problem 2 years ago during US visit when Leica dealer couldn't clean it. Future attempts unsuccessful. Put off sending it to Leica when I read sensor replacements were gratis, wanted to keep using the camera. Waiting to see how all this shakes down.
