Has anyone ever been able to register online to the leica website. I have tried multiple times and just end up with a blank page.

I am an existing customer with an account but I tried to register new kit today and got a blank page too.

I will try again tomorrow or call them

The Leica Owners Area on the website, if that is the one you all are speaking of, does not "register" cameras and lenses with Leica. It merely adds them to a list for your purposes on that website. To register for warranty purposes you must send in the warranty card to Leica.in some cases with new gear a Leica dealer will do it for you.

Here's how you do it:

http://us.members-2014.leica-camera.com/Members-Area

Click on Members Area & log-in or register and then log-in

Click on my products and then click on the new product icon.

There you have it.

You are 100% correct. It adds items to your personal list. It does NOT register them with the Leica camera company for warranty purposes.

I registered a whole lot of equipment. Sold some to buy the M9 and could not get back to my page.

Had mail with Leica USA, Solmes, their software people, with some results. Eventually put the M9 under a different name and gave up the whole thing.

and I will add if you download LightRoom it does NOT register with Adobe. So you do not qualify for upgrades. I jumped thru hoops getting Adobe to register it. They would not tell me where the serial was located. I stumbled upon it and then they registered it.

The whole situation is pitiful just like the camera firmware. Fortunately for them they are the only digital RF camera around and have outstanding optics. This is keeping them afloat.

And there has been a notice for some weeks that the members area is in the process of being upgraded. Meanwhile it has worked although often a little slow to load the page you want.

"We are still working on a new members area.

It will centralize product registration, faster access to our service network as well as all important information. Until it is fully operational, please use the links below to access your profile and subscribe/ unsubscribe our newsletters."

I just checked and it was still operating for me this minute actually.

The ability to check on the progress of a service has not worked for some weeks at all either. I would think that will return with the new version of the members area.

I have had excellent personal support when contacting them though, including the registering in my name of a second hand S2 body and progress on the service of my M (Typ 240)

Email from Leica Care:

Unfortunately, we have some technical issues our server and therefore some functions are paralyzed.

A registry on the Leica owner’s area is not possible at the moment.

We currently are not able to estimate how long our system update takes, so may we kindly ask to try a new registration attempt later.

Thanks for your kind understanding. Enjoy your day.

Kind regards

Never had a problem with the Lewis website. What browsers where you using ? Try a different browser

The maintenance will be finished soon. It's very rarely down for maintenance.

Passports sometimes take over a month to return, call Leica to find out

Note that the passport and guarantee is automatic, technically you don't need to register. Just keep your original invoice/receipt in case you have to prove date of purchase. Also a good idea to have dealer stamp warranty card but I know most don't.

On a semi-related topic, in the UK, I submitted by Passport registration card to Leica months ago, but never heard anything back. Was I meant to get something back from Leica?

The Passport application is usually sent off to Leica UK by the Leica dealer at the time you buy your brand new Leica camera, lens etc from them.

A week or 2 later you should receive a letter from Leica UK along with the Leica Passport card.

If you haven't had that, I'd contact your supplying dealer in the first instance.
