Hi folks! I'm interested in buying a digital rangefinder with which to use my 35mm 'cron from my M4-P and my father's 50mm (summitar I think) from his IIIb (1939 from memory)..with adaptor! I have no interest in video or live view so not tempted by M. The look of the M9-P is more (retro /classic) pleasing than the M9..especially in chrome - but I haven't found any of these for sale by UK dealers (would like a warranty and the 'safety net' by buying there) - only lots of black ones! Were more black bodies manufactured? Are owners of chrome ones holding on to them? Any thoughts would be most welcome...

THANK YOU!

They're available in the US, if you don't mind shipping, such as here.

I'd be surprised if you can't find one, if not UK then elsewhere in Europe. Lots of calls, and patience, has always worked for me (for other tough to find items), especially trying smaller shops. Check the Leica site for list of dealers.

If my experience is any indication, finding a good M9-P would be highly preferable to getting an M240. My M240 has had several issues, and may be headed back to Germany soon. I loved my M9-P--never should have sold it.

Have you considered the M9-P upgrade programme? You could buy a shabby looking M9 of any colour and have it 'upgraded' to M9-P spec.

Thanks for the replies folks..interesting ideas! The US cameras look great value..importing one to the UK would add 20-odd percent in tax but may still be worthwhile. I didn't appreciate the M9 upgrade was still available..will look into that too. And I hope the 240 gets sorted out soon! By chance this morning I bought Amateur Photographer since it has dealer adverts in the back - and the one I got (dated Sat 19th July!) has features for the 100th celebration of Leica - some interesting stuff..may be worth a browse for you guys!

Thanks again!
