I've got a M-240 on order and I want to buy a glass screen protector for it. I use a GGS 2,5-inch protectors on my M9, but don't know what size screen to buy for the new camera. Some have said that the regular 3-inch screen will not fit it properly. Can someone, who already has an M-240 on hand, provide me with the correct screen dimensions or advise me as to what protector to buy?

About 51x71 or 70.5. Why not wait to measure it yourself?

I could wait, but then when I receive the camera, I'll have to wait again to find the screen protector, and I'll probably feel I've waited long enough. I feel I've waited long enough now.

The 240 may not need a screen protector, but, for peace of mind, I certainly do.

second that, the LCD on my MM has been sctratched without knowing how.

The screen protector that Tin Cheung fitted to my M240, after much searching through his extensive inventory, does not cover edge to edge, probably 96%. Still it was free and isn't in the way, so I will keep it, but this is one of those stick on plastic jobs and much different than the GGS kind the OP has on his M9.

My guess is that people will have to wait for a proper M240 protector to be produced to get a glass version or one that fits perfectly over the GG cover.

One seller on the Bay presents the ACMAXX 3" screen as being suitable for the M240. However, the picture shown is that of an M8 camera. Possibly a 23$ (+shipping) leap of faith...

I purchased this, I dont yet have my M yet but it for sure is for a 3" screen, and not for the M8.

Isn't the screen of the MM made from a different kind of glass? The M has Gorilla glass, as used on recent smartphones - it's pretty difficult to scratch, though not impossible.

Random speculation:

Personally I would be more worried about cracking the glass of a screen protector, and the shards scratching the screen, than me somehow having something that sharp hit it hard enough to cause a scratch. Broken screen protector glass is one of the sharper things you're likely to have around, but whatever makes you happy :)

I guess a plastic screen protector might offer some extra protection in theory? But, I would expect anything that sharp and pressed hard enough to scratch Gorilla glass is going to go straight through plastic film.

It would be interesting to know what accidents could scratch an M screen, and weather a glass/plastic screen protector would help, make no difference, or make it worse (glass only I guess).

When I received my new M (Typ 240) the Leica dealer put a screen saver on immediately as a service (In Korea that means free). They said that when the real deal comes in they will put the new one on. I note that the screen saver covers about 96% of the screen and was designed for the Panasonic Lumix TZ30 camera. The size is W66.5 x H48.5mm. Comes very close to covering all. I note the company selling the screen is out of Japan and called Etsumi Stock number is E7145. Hope this helps.

I use the plastic screen protector from ACMAXX bought via eBay. IMO it is the best you can get for the new M as of yet. But it has slightly rounded corners while the M screen has not - at least not to this extent.

Unless you want to use foils or wait for GGS or Giotto to make a glass version, the poly-carbonate one is your only real option.

I have written a quick review on this protector if you like to do some further reading or like to see some pictures with the ACMAXX on the new M.

Lupico, thank you for posting this information.

Exactly which version of their screen protectors did you order for your M? They sell many types and I can't determine which one would fit the M240.

Thanks!

The MM has the same sapphire glass cover as the M9P.. which is extremely resistant and can only be scratched by diamond.. so be careful if you have diamond buttons on your shirt

If you do a search for ACMAXX M 240 on ebay you will find the correct size offered. They call it the 3" size. It fits o.K. like I said in the review.

I am partial to the Giottos on this. Had it on my M9 and one broke, sacrificing itself as it should and not doing any damage to the camera screen. That earned my loyalty.

I am hoping someone with a M can post the metric dimensions of the screen. We know the hypotenuse is 3" but if we knew the width and height dimensions maybe there is a Giottos that will fit. Can somebody please post?

Of course the gorilla glass is pretty tough, so doing nothing may be a perfectly reasonable solution.

Thanks

Buy a Giottos Schott glass 12 layer screen protector. I suspect they will soon have one if they don't already. They really are the best.

Well, if some nice M owner can measure the height and width of the LCD we might find an existing Giottos that will fit. Anyone care to help?
