Rolo Posted November 14, 2012 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2012 Thanks for your review. Last week in Paris, I spent a couple of days with William Palank and was able to observe him shooting his MM and Noctilux combination. His LCD results clearly showed that this MM is quite unique and I look forward to seeing his processed results. Yours reinforce that opinion. Whilst I 'went digital' to have the choice of converting any image to B&W and ideally need two colour sensors for my work, I'm becoming very impressed by more recent results from the MM. Appreciated.

jaapv Posted November 14, 2012 Share #6 Posted November 14, 2012 There is a thread for Monochrom shots in the Photoforums. Please restrict the images in the technical forums to illustrative ones. Great photographs - thanks

colonel Posted November 14, 2012 Share #8 Posted November 14, 2012 really impressive snaps on your blog with a 50mm and a 35mm, I presumed you used the 50mm most of the time ? still, you would practically have to had been on the stage for many of those I really should not read posts like yours, its going to make me spend more money ....

janrzm Posted November 14, 2012 Author Share #10 Posted November 14, 2012 really impressive snaps on your blog with a 50mm and a 35mm, I presumed you used the 50mm most of the time ? still, you would practically have to had been on the stage for many of those I really should not read posts like yours, its going to make me spend more money .... Thanks No, mostly the 35mm because I am on stage. Full dress rehearsal the night before opening, they allow me on stage. It adds to the challenge photographically because I'm in trouble if I get in the way of the cast and if I fall off the stage (which I so nearly did whilst backing up...) If you spend your money on this camera and can make it through the first week without getting too depressed (like I did) you will be amazed at what it can achieve. Cheers Jason

Bill W Posted November 14, 2012 Share #16 Posted November 14, 2012 I think you have it Jason. I have tried to read every article from users. One thing I remember is to shoot for the highlights becahse there is a lot of detail in the shadows. This soulnds like my old slide shooting days. "Shoot for the highlights and let the shadows fall where they may"...!!
Ecar Posted November 14, 2012 Share #17 Posted November 14, 2012 Fantastic images. You seem to have understood how to process the MM files.
Ulrik Posted November 14, 2012 Share #18 Posted November 14, 2012 I had a debate with the Leica people at the Photokina. While the metering system of the M9 and MM is as primitive as can be I wonder if it could not be much better with the future Leica M. That one offers Live View and therefore a histogram-based exposure that follows the rule "expose for the highlights and let the shadows fall where they may" could be easily accomplished (I am doing that manually with my Hasselblad CFV-XX back, the exposure meters are collecting dust). But their reply was that nobody in the camera industry is doing it that way... Ulrik BTW: Great pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agent M10 Posted November 14, 2012 Share #19 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) Sheesh, so I decided last week not to buy an MM. I went so far as to cancel a preorder at BHPhoto. Today I took a look at the M forum for the first time in weeks and saw janrzm's pictures and read his post. Five minutes later (no kidding), my dealer emailed me and said that he had an MM for me. Janrzm's little post has cost me thousands. Edited November 14, 2012 by pcsmythe
janrzm Posted November 14, 2012 Author Share #20 Posted November 14, 2012 Sheesh, I had just decided not to go ahead with an MM purchase last week. Hadn't even bothered to look up any of the M stuff. Today I took a look and saw janrzm's pictures and read his post. Five minutes later (no kidding), my dealer emails me and says that he has an MM for me. Janrzm's post has cost me thousands. Ha.....you will thank me for that one day!! :-) Congrats, you are in for a massive thrill! Jason.
