Leica M and M-E

Is the ME basically a blue M9?

DPReview says that the M-E is a stripped down M9. I'm not certain how it's stripped down except for the top place which just plain.

The M OTOH is what I wished the M9 was when I bought it last year. However, I'm wondering why video was incorporated into its features. I'm particularly curious if many Leica M users will use the video feature, or not. Personally for me, I'm not particularly good at manual focusing during a live recording (esp without a tripod!).

This is quite a good Leica line-up.

The "M", so owners of R Series lenses are happy. CMOS, Liveview, Video, new display, and a traditional RF with illuminated finders. Those wanting features offered by DSLR makers should be happy.

The M-E, CCD- the M9 is basically still in production.

And the M Monochrom. I'm happy.

I still don't know what is different between the M E and the M9

"...What you get is a full frame digital LEICA M camera with the specifications of the previous top model LEICA M9. Technically only the USB port and the image field selector are missing..."

I will. RF focus while filming should work really really well, with some practice.

Oh, and they're offering it in silver chrome right off the bat! :) I can't wait to get one, I've even gotten over the fact there is no 0.85x finder option!
