Silver Noctilux

Here are a couple shots of Dr. Kaufmann and David Levinthal at Westlicht Gallery that show a lens I have never seen before:

WestLicht - Schauplatz f

I might just be dreaming, but this very much looks like a silver Noct. Maybe it is a new 35 f/0.95 ... just kidding!

Cheers, Chris

Yes, does look like a silver Noctilux, even less discrete than the black one. Wouldn't it be nice if Leica actually improved the M9 (I won't start my list) instead of simply using alternative finishes to provide limited editions. They may provide welcome profits but there's much to do (IMHO) elsewhere.

Sobering answer to the hope of fruitful input from a PJ for further Leica models imo.

But imagine having a black one for over a year now and the crave for something new to buy to go with the NEW body!

So there soon will be a titanium one and a black paint one, too. Not to mention the endless possibilities for engravings.

When next generation Canicons with improved video functions and more compact at the same time, top primes being already avaiable, will we be able to overlook the fact that we'll be vertu camera owners? Same observation goes for our Canicon photo friends.

Which per se is not wrong, since Morgan doesn't waste funds in Indy, Le Mans or Formula 1. But will it be a tool? Let's wait and see. It's more a R&D engineers' career problem imo.

I'm sure this is heresy....but does anyone else think that a silver 0.95 Nocti on an MP just looks......flippin ridiculous?

Depending which surface coating your MP has :)

Though you can't be that picky with cameras made in the sixties.

Deliberately churning out collectibles as a substantial part of the production, in a market of tools, is an art and we'll see if it works.

But let's relax about it: it's a win-win situation for a company, that was in the red for decades before the new concept came in.

I do.

I look forward to the day when the M9, or whatever it is by then, is successful enough (technologically and thus commercially) to make this kind of nonsense unnecessary.

They need the money from the sheiks to do the necessary R&D. Be happy that Leica has survived *at all*

I think we need the diamond-encrusted version ...

Maybe Leica Camera AG should start a co-operation with Rolex? I am looking forward to the Leica Noctilux Day-Date President version ... or how about a Rolex Yachtlux Noctmariner cal. 5095 ... :D

Seems like a Silver Noctilux is coming as special edition with the M9-P. This page is from the official Leica importer in Norway:

Leica M Special Editions | Leica

Thanks for the link, erlingmm!

Westlicht hosted the 20 Year Leica Store Anniversary in Vienna so this makes perfect sense. It seems the company has manufactured 50 silver Noct for these three limited editions. You are right, the lens is the limited edition ... brilliant idea from a product management perspective. It is an incredibly beautiful lens!

Cheers, Chris
