andalus Posted March 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) When does the M9 begin to wear out mechanically (or electronically). It there some round number of shutter actuations near which one MAY begin to experience trouble? And is there any recommendation via Leica or any other source as to when to have a CLAD on the M9? I guess for sure no one's owned one long enough to bump up to its limits, but I would suspect 50k shutter actuations and maybe there's a bit of serious wear in there. Any enlightenment on this appreciated.
Advertisement Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Hi andalus, Take a look here M9 and Getting on Thin Ice Before it Crashes?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 14, 2010 Well, the R8 shutter which is alledgedly the same was easily capable of 150.000 actuations.
andalus Posted March 14, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 14, 2010 great. good to know. 150k actuations is a lot. equivalent to over 4000 rolls of film...
jaapv Posted March 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 14, 2010 Yes- but of course the M9 is electrical and the R8 manual - it may wear slightly more. Who knows?
KM-25 Posted March 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 14, 2010 Figure it like this, you can either maintain your car or repair it when things break from wear, the latter often being more expensive. I send my digital gear in every two years for a CLA, every 4-5 years for mechanical rigs.
