Not tried to hook up my M8 to the iMac before but couldn't get the CF/SD multi reader to be recognised and so thought I would try - but nothing visible in Finder and if I disconnect - no complaints from the Mac.
As soon as I pop a CF card in the reader 'up' it pops in Finder but no go with either the camera or SD card. Any suggestions? Only had the M8 3 weeks and the SD card/reader has worked before but it was not always recognised immediately but today - nothing!

I cannot help you (I am on PC) but I know there is a shoal of threads on the subject. The search function will help you dig them out.

You should use either Image Capture or iPhoto as my understanding is that M8 / M8.2 don't show up as disk drive. Both applications are provided with OSX and are easily located with Spotlight.

Thanks anyway. Will try as suggested but having hooked the M8 up to my Mac, it seems to have drained the battery!

You have to run Image Capture (should be in Applications under iDVD - see screen print) just once and your M8 will thereafter connect via the cable. Generally this is not recommended - see dozens of threads - a card reader or if it has it, a direct SD slot on your computer is safer and faster. If you cannot find Image Capture PM me and I will email you a copy or you can do an Archive Reinstall of your system and it should appear.

Lots of older card readers don't read newer SD cards
It pays to buy a new reader each time you move forwards with the card technology Ridiculous, really

Image Capture ought to be in the Mac Applications folder. although it's not a good idea to connect M8 direct to computer, not least because of the fragility of the plastic door on the camera. |

Yep! Just ordered one. In the meantime, downloaded images via iCapture but will switch back to the 2gb card until the new reader arrives I think as it will make life easier.
