I miss my M8. I'm on a three month wait for repair.

Hi,
this is my first picture with my new/2°hand M8-2 with 21 Leitz Elmarit and UVa Leitz. Nothing IR/UV need. Many pictures test do it with and without IR/UV cut filter. With IR/UV cut filter the pictures are reddish too. With only UVa Leitz, the colors are as environment you can look with your eyes; natural. Barùkh attà Adonài Elohènu Mèlekh haolàm. Shalom |

I've been quite pleased at the M8's performance as an Infrared camera, but without the usual total darkness routine you have to do with film. The rangefinder is still clear even with an opaque filter. It's easy to adjust the focus. The meter reads accurately for IR shots with both an R72 (Leica IR filter) and a B+W 87C filter. Mine is a chrome M8 I bought used from Tamarkin.
Here's a photo.net link to some pictures I posted converting the results to Black and White: Leica M8 plus Leitz IR Filter - Photo.net Leica and Rangefinders Forum And here's one converted to false color. Red Top Near Beach: Photo by Photographer David W. Griffin - photo.net Exposure times are slow for the 87C but the Leica IR filter gives you borderline handheld times in sunlight. And this is Winter. I'm looking forward to seeing what it will do in Spring and Summer when there is lots of IR coming off the plants. |

^ Nice! Don't you just love the little Skopar? I use the stock (small) hood with my Classic/LTM version to keep it as tiny as possible.
