Limited Edtion Black Paint M8 with Silver Chrome Controls

Leica has announced today the production of a limited edtion M8. It features black paint with silver chrome controls. Ony 100 are being produced world-wide. The camera is the same price as a standard M8 and still qualifies for the $1500 mail-in rebate.

Looks nice. I guess this means that the M8 won't be produced alongside the M8-2 for very much longer.

If I was just buying my first M8, this would be it--but I'd get it as a user, not a collector.

Black paint with black controls would have been nice - if a trifle garish. Black paint with silver controls is simply tacky.

Tacky? Perhaps in your eyes, lol. It's an anti Panda M body. I configured an MP ala carte the same way. Maybe the film bodies look better like this! hehe...

I am happy to announce my program similar to Leica's, except that my program will be applied to existing cameras! Not only will I ship black chrome cameras with chrome controls, I will also ship chrome cameras with black chrome controls! In fact, I will ship them in equal numbers! Just send your camera to me along with 500 Euro and save lots! Please make sure to team up with someone wanting the opposite configuration to you.

Looks like they are raiding the parts bin. It's a shame that they didn't go with the black paint from day one though.

I had a chat with my Leica dealer today who is in London, (he's selling one of my M8 bodies which I've replaced with an M8.2), and his feeling is that Leica will stop making the M8 soon. Hence the rebate, (I think GBP600- in the UK), he reckons they're trying to move the M8 stock and will shortly only make the M8.2.

I think I made something like that when I was 7 using a cereal box, toilet roll, tin foil, sticky back plastic and a tin of purple paint. I didn't like it then.

I think so-. They are just trying to get rid of last 100 M8!!! May be they will do the other way Silver with black control knobs + silver dot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
