Come over, buy lots of US stuff for those Euros, go home and sell it.
I'll buy your first cup of coffee in Boston.

However - don't forget that any pricing out of US and Canada NEVER includes state, provincial, or any other taxes. These vary, depending on which state in the US and which province in Canada, between 0% (Oregon) to 6% - 13% in Canada. US state taxes are on the average between 7% and 9%. If an item gets shipped out of the US or from one state to another, taxes are not charged (in most cases). All European pricing almost exclusively includes VAT, MwSt or whatever the respective government decides to call the tax. So - be careful when doing price comparisons. Best, Jan |

Don't forget that there's almost 14 months between those two posts, during which time the dollar has sunk, what, 15% and the price of the camera in the US has gone up about $700.

Yes we pay our governments some tax.
In Belgium we pay 25% on consumer goods from our paycheck on witch we already had to "donate" 33% incom tax. So €4.850 - 25%=€3.637. would'nt mind that cup of Boston coffee tough ![]() |

Wouldn't you have to pay VAT on the camera when you clear customs on the return to Belgium? Do they allow a certain spending limit for goods brought from abroad? In other words, could you bring the M8 back to Begium without paying the VAT on it.

3,637.00 EUR = 5,336.95 USD 1 EUR = 1.46741 USD................1 USD = 0.681475 EUR So - about the same as the current before tax MSRP in the US, give or take a few $$$. It's the taxes that wreak havoc with the pricing. Best, Jan |

Of course I would only buy one M8, dress it with a old brown Luigi case and some gaffer tape, take a few holiday snaps and walk with it trough customs.
Like the iPhone that's comming next week my way in the chestpocket of a friend. ![]() |
