Guest WPalank Posted October 2, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 2, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've got to admit, myself, I shoot DNG only but I was reading Scott Kelby's weekly blog this morning and came upon a post by Michael Tapes (Imagenomic) about his new FREE download which automatically extracts a JPEG from DNG or RAW files. Everybody was raving about it. I tried it this morning and it is really fast. It's called "Instant JPEG from RAW Free Utility" or IJFR and here's the link: RawWorkflow.com - Digital Photography Products and Education - RawWorkflow.com Download Page Make sure you read the installation manual pdf (it's short and to the point). I'm running a Mac 10.4.11 (can't remember the feline right now) and it does NOT automatically open as a package. You have to drag it into a specific folder which took half a second. Also, no need to shut your computer down. Then you Control (or right) click on the DNG file or files and use the contextual menu to select "Instant JPEG from RAW". It then creates a folder in that folder in which the JPEGs are placed. Did I say it was really fast?
Advertisement Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Hi Guest WPalank, Take a look here No need to shoot DNG+JPEG with M8 anymore.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted October 2, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 2, 2008 Is it creating a new Jpeg from the DNG data, or is it just extracting the Jpeg that's embedded in the DNG? I only ask because the Jpeg embedded in the M8's DNG files is rather small, nowhere near full sized.
Guest WPalank Posted October 2, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 2, 2008 Steve, From the embedded JPEG. I think the size was at least 800 or 850 on it's longest.
ChrisC Posted October 2, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 2, 2008 William - You are duplicating this thread : http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m8-forum/65048-create-jpegs-raw-files.html .................. Chris
trs Posted October 2, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 2, 2008 But, for me, reason for shooting DNG+JPG was my JPG would be B+W. With conversion, I am sure you get color JPG. I have not done JPG+DNG for a while now due to slowness.
