Default M8 and the Dalai Lama

A little over a year ago I photographed the Dalai Lama with my two month old M8 and was very happy with the results. He returned here yesterday and I had another opportunity to photograph him with the same camera. Again, I was happy with the results. There is no camera I'd rather have used for this, except perhaps the M6 if this was 10 years ago. For those who might be interested but don't visit the photo forum, here's a link:

Hmmm, the loud noise of the M8 shutter did not seem to ruffle his peaceful demeanor.

Probably bothered him as much as yours bothered the Bryant Street Drummers.

Remembering the post about his critique of Richard Gere's photos', I believe he is only bothered by out of focus images.

I missed that but would have loved to read it. What did he say? I'm curious because I once photographed Richard Geer in a similar situation at a small private reception and Geer was a complete asshole. Because I had a camera around my neck, he figured that gave him the right to treat me like paparazzi. His wife at the time, Cindy Crawford, was exactly the opposite. No wonder the marriage didn't last.

Brent, how about substituting a shot of the Dalai Lama in the M8 Anniv book?

A great idea, Bill, and I'll second that!

Brent

I'm glad you started this thread because it gives me the chance to (a) congratulate you for a stunning piece of photography and (b) reinforce what I have posted elsewhere that the M8 plus the 35-lux is an awesome piece of photographic power. Lieca should really use your shots for PR purposes as I can't think of a better demonstration of the power and performance of the M8.

I'd be open for that. Can you PM me your email address so I can upload one to the Pixoasis site and send you the link? No release will be necessary because he is a "public figure."

Brent, terrific. I'm at wparsons@gis.net. This'll be a wonderful addition. Again, it's a wonderful set of pictures, and in a different vein than the earlier and equally fascinating set you posted.

Congratulations again,
