A previously posted thread concerning attaching removable hoods to the E43 UV/IR filter left unanswered whether the 12586 hood fits. Does anyone know if it does?
And if it doesn't, then what hood will fit? Thanks, Jeff

Thanks Ammitsboel - your response is faster than a Google search!!!
Adorama has one available...

Thanks Stuart - there is available an X001M lens hood at Setadel Studios in Toronto, close to me.
Looking at ammitsboel's 12589 fix, I see on Erwin Puts' lenses list ( List of M lenses | Photography and image capture: the Leica technique and philosophy by Erwin Puts | Erwin Puts ) that it is fitted for E46. I'm wondering if therefore my 28mm 'cron asph hood 12451 will work instead? And who knows, I haven't received my E43 IR filter yet - maybe the original hood will work...

If it's the Leica brand 43 the original hood will fit. The Leica filter has a grouve around it that the pinchers of the hood pinch into. Other 43mm filters than Leica's the hood won't fit over and latch.

Thanks Jimmy - I hope to prove you right next week when my filter arrives.
Fingers crossed, Jeff

The Leica e43 uv/ir works flawlessly with both the old e43 Summilux mounts. Both the XOOIM and the 2586 hoods can be mounted and reversed without any problems. The only snag is that the e43 is only available in silver chrome. If you want to have a black filter you have to move the glass to an old black mount.

The 43mm filter arrived today, and I am happy to report the 12586 hood fits perfectly! If anything, the groove on the IR filter seats the hood flanges better than the lens' groove.
Thanks to everyone for your contributions to my query. Jeff Hladun
