Default How to use Pantone Huey Pro Color Profile

Everytime I calibrate my display with the Pantone Huey Pro, I was asked to save a color profile (ICC) file. Does anybody what this means? Can I use this color profile for other purpose and even without using the Pantone Huey Pro? Is it the same file with other ICC files?

Thanks

I use the Huey with y MacBookPro and the ICC profile it creates is automatically linked to the display colour settings. You don't need to do anything with this file unless you need to re-reference it if you change the display association at some point.

I can't think of any other use for the icc profile since it's screen based and so not really helpful for any other purpose like soft-proofing.

To answer your other questions: yes it's an icc profile like any other.

Graham,

I have tried the Huey Pro on my MBP with no success... It created some crazy color casts, blue and green.. As a result, I sold it on eBay....

Are you satisfied with it?

Thanks

Interesting this came up as I'm having a similar discussion with Sean Reid in the "Thank Goodness For Voigtlander Lenses" regarding my Huey. I didn't get the Pro version but had an immediate cyan shift on my iMac. I went to Pantone's site and they admit that certain models cause color shift problems. They agree to send a replacement unit free of charge but they took so long to do it that I had solved the issues by uninstalling and re-installing the software. Unfortunately my screen has started to intermittently shift and now my headaches are worse than a consistent shift. The Huey was picked as one of the top five calibrators I think by Leica (but don't quote me on that). I'm still working with mine but the color shift only seems to take place when I open an image in PS3 so I'm starting to think it is a compatibility issue with PS.

I have the Huey Pro package and it seems ok for use on the road. Take a look at Pantone discussion about Huey and colour cast..

I haven't noticed a problem although its not a critical colour calibration compared to my home machines which use Monaco Optix XR Pro and colorimeter.

I contacted Pantone regarding the issue as I had read about it on their web site. A month later, I got a reply from them, asking me to send them more info. Too late. I had sold the device. I found their customer service extremely poor.

cheers
