Default Where to buy UV/IR 48mm filter for 28mm Elmarit

Anyone direct me to where I can purchase a 48mm UV/IR cut filter for my Elmarit 28mm and M8 in the UK?

Thanks

Graeme

This is the second version of the lens, right? I had a hard time finding a UV filter for it that wouldn't hit the front element (ended up finding a Leitz made one).

Perhaps you can try a step up ring, 48mm to 49mm...

New 48-49mm Metal Step Up Ring 48mm-49mm E48-49 Leica

Uh-oh!

If that's the case, I just gave a bad recommendation on Graeme's other post of this query.

If the B+W filter does touch the front element (something I'll soon know, when my sample arrives), then perhaps the Heliopan brand will work.

Since your and my 28/2.8 were manufactured long before the M8, I don't think we're going to find a Leitz/Leica UV/IR-Cut for it; and although the step ring may be the only solution, it has the disadvantage that we wouldn't be able to use the lens hood.

Keep us posted, Graeme! Inquiring minds want to know (as do the rest of us with that first 28mm that would work with metering on the M5!).

If this is indeed the second version, it shares the bulky hood with the 21mm Super Angulon 3.4, which is also a rarity (and he may not have it) I actually didn't use the hood (which I had).

But yeah, I had one of these 28 Elmarits and I had to use a Leitz 48mm filter on mine. Found it at Wall Street Camera when they were still around in 1996. Perhaps there were variations of the lens that I am unaware of.

I ordered my 48mm UV/IR from Popflash in the US because I could not get it locally. 4-6 weeks wait. However, it was meant for the Nikkor 8.5cm f2 LTM.

OOoops!......Thanks all but my lens arrived today and it's actually a 46mm thread. Sorry for wasting folks time on this.

Is it a newer lens then?

Regards

Graeme
