I've got the 75 Summarit, and have been pleased as punch with it. If it weren't for the awkward frame lines with a 75mm lens on the M8, I'd be using it a lot more. But overall, the quality and sharpness of the images I have gotten with that lens have been superb.
So I am considering the 35mm Summarit. Would it stand to reason, that, given they are made with some of the same components, the bokeh, contrast, color rendition and sharpness will be the same? I hope my question makes sense. Attached is a smaple of M8 w/ Summarit 75 |

J, Sean Reid has reviewed the 35 at ReidReviews. He has also reviewed the 75, so you could see how the 35 would relate to the 75, in his view.
His reviews are first-rate and, as a *Charter Subscriber*, I would recommend you spend the $39 to see what he says about Leica and other things (as if the other things were as important..... ).If you like the 75, you will probably like the 35. Get the subscription. Regards,

They render the same and actually the whole line does look very similar in look to each other. Besides obviously DOF for focal length of course

The thing I like about the 75 and 90 is the short throw for focusing. It just seemed to be more accurate than I was with my 90 apo and i missed a lot less with focus on the 90mm Summarit. So i did switch at one time to the Summarit. Honestly I tested all of them and leica did a really nice job on the Summarits . I was expecting results far less than there bigger brothers but that really did not hold up that much they performed extremely well overall. I think a very good way to get into Leica lenses new without killing a budget. Like to see them expand this down into the super wide area. The one lens that did stand out very well with bokeh was the 35mm. It looked nicer or smoother than my 35 cron Version IV which surprised me but the 35mm summarit really has nice bokeh. the 50 just does not make much sense to me given all the nice 50mm out there that are faster. But that is me, some may not need anything faster.

The Summarit 35 is a gem, one of the best lenses I have used. Here you have a volcano landscape and a 100% crop from the same photo. Awesome lens, lives on my M8. So it manages much more than horses.

I got my M8 with the 35 Summarit and think it is outstanding - great image quality, and small and light. I often take it out instead of the 28 Summicron as in many ways I prefer the FL.
Took this one with it last night while waiting to show a buyer round our house. Wide open, ISO320:

For all normal purposes the 50 mm framelines are OK for the 75. |

nothing personal against it, and I enjoy a lot my Summarit 75, but thought that 35 is too important as a focal for M8... the chrome finishing had its importance too...![]() |

Jaap, that's not been my experience. I tried using the 50 framelines, but found that the images were being cropped - i.e. there was less in the frame that what was being indicated by the 50mm framelines.
