What I remember most about Agfachrome is the way it turned forests into amorphous dark green lumps.

As you can see from this link, you're not the only one who can't get the purple in iris flowers to reproduce correctly:
http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...5541-iris.html

After the first post where the flowers reproduced blue instead of purple, I re-shot them under different light conditions and a different white balance setting. I prefer the saturation and lighting of the first photo, but the second one has much more accurate color..

Intrigued by your query so tried three different clematis plants in flower, North London garden: M8/35mm Summicron ASPH+filter. Pic of no special merit except that it's pretty true to the colours in the flowers.

My rule of thumb was to use the film made in the country I was visiting.

I figured the Germans knew how Germany was supposed to look on film, so I used Agfachrome there.

When I used Ferrania in Italy, I couldn't understand why the Italians thought their country should look that way. They were probably too busy considering how the country felt emotionally to concern themselves with how it looked.

I couldn't figure exactly where to use GAF 500 ASA. It was more amazing for being that fast than for the warm, grainy images it produced. Luckily, you can't prove that today because the dyes have all faded from the GAF slides.

But I did notice that the filmmakers of France, Germany, UK, Italy all tended to choose Kodak stock for their productions.

cre8ting--
I had a different experience that I probably shouldn't admit in this audience:

Lady Bird Johnson did a great deal to beautify Texas by planting wildflowers along state highways. A lot of us take a trip out to see the result each spring.

When I first got my Digilux 2, I took it out shooting bluebonnets. The pictures were good, but I didn't think they were quite as dramatic as they should be, so I did some minor tweaks in Photoshop.

Well, I liked the images better, but when an uncle saw them, he asked if the flowers were lupins.

For us Texans, 'lupins' come from Monty Python movies, while 'bluebonnets' grow on Lady Bird's trails.

In fact, bluebonnets are part of the lupin family; but the experience taught me that it's best to work for accuracy as you're doing, instead of trying to improve on it.

Thanks for posting your before-and-afters. You're right, there's no purple at all in the first shot. Color looks rather like a bluebonnet.

But they seem to be two consecutive shots, not the same shot with and without correction...

Ho_CO
I also have lupins in the garden.
you are absolutely correct they are consecutive shots. I didn't want to undo the work i did in lightroom. I'm still learning how to use lightroom. I have a love hate relationship with the digital age.
I too miss the 70's

I gotcha. Good to get an idea what you're working with.

I'm finally going to have to give in and buy one of the teaching videos or books on Lightroom.

Yep, the '70s were a promising time when we thought we could see the future--but none of us foresaw digital!

Howard, try the Scott Kelby book. They are the best out there, imo.

Thanks for the recommendation, Jaap. I think I will go that way.
