Even more than the cost of reproducing 225 pictures, imagine the headache of getting 225 releases without a Bill Parsons to chase everyone down! I'm delighted with my copy, with the pdf that preceded it, and with belonging to this community. Seeing ManyEyes does make the SoFoBoMo activity more interesting.

Thanks, Bill.

However, no one had more fun than I. I enjoyed the comradery, the sharing of wonderful images that I look at repeatedly, and the editing process.

I met people from all over the world and, as expected, these Leica photographers are really nice people.

Take care,
Of course, the moment has been rich and the object is too.
Collective projects are rare, and I know that the publishing
crowd is not really at ease with those.

I'm trying to wrap up the info before turning this thread loose (no sticky status).

We had some 61 visits to the book in May and sold a couple (can't get the exact number today).

I'll post details and then get in touch with a moderator to take away the sticky tag.

Regards,

Andreas was kind enough to mention our book in his recent Leica newsletter (this must not be news to you...). As a result, we have had 340 visits and sold 8 books, so far.

You guys are (justifiably) famous.

They tweeted about it too and got your name wrong. I pinged them back with a correction.

I am thinking about a new book.

I need to get my M9, first. Then I plan to start a new thread (and pic thread) for a book that might be called "Many Eyes, One Camera - 2010"

I was thinking pix from M8.x and M9, otherwise like the last one.

I'll be doing something one of these days (that means I'm *waiting* for the M9).

Regards,

As there were M8 users that missed the boat first time round I believe it should be Digital M as the restriction, at least I seem to recall a hint/suggestion that they could join in next time. The M8.2 sensor is identical to the M8 so that is hardly a criterion and may be impossible to verify (does EXIF even show this?). Just my $0.02.

Anyway the book is really great and it deserves all the exposure it can get (as does Bill who did all the hard work).

Way to go Bill...Count me in. If you make it M9 only I might have to get one. M8&M9 would be good.

Bill, let me start by saying thank you. I don’t think there are too many photo book out there where you can find pictures from photographers around the world. (Maybe flicker has it). I know how much work it is now because I was part of the committee who built similar book this year @ work.

Here is how it all started. There was a thread at our photography club titled my 3 favorites, just like our anniversary thread here. Somebody suggested how could we show case these photographs. As we were exploring ideas, "one camera many eyes" came to my mind. So, I proposed the idea of making the book around our company's giving campaign time frame with idea that we can raise money to help the local comunity. People liked the idea and few of us got together to actually run the project. We did not know what we were getting into. But, end result was great. We decided $25 markup over the cost of the book because that is the minimum amount our company matches for donation. Regardless of who buys the book, the $25 markup directly goes to United Way (our local charity here in Seattle). If an employee bought it, then amount is matched by the company. Because of various constraint, like price point and premium paper, we ended up with 160 page book, 157 photographs from 157 different photographers. So, not all of our pictures made the book, myself included in people who did not make it to the book.

If anybody is thinking about such a project, I highly recommend it. Folks at Blurb were fantastic to work with as well. You can see their blog about the book here and you can see the book preview here.

Sorry, if this is sounded like an advertisement for the book even though it was not my intention. I just wanted say Thank you to Bill for coming up with such wonderful idea last year.

Bill count me in for next book as well.

Tanka, this is a beautiful book. Congratulations.

I really like that Blurb now lets viewers see an entire book.

We've had about 375 visits and over a dozen sales since Andreas mentioned the M8 book in his newsletter.

Thanks Bill. As I said you are the idea man (inspiration).

Good to hear M8 book is still selling. I still think M8 is great book for student of photography because it has so many different styles of photographs.
