All right Bill, I'll play. I'm thinking I'll order 5 +/- depending on the price.
Here are a couple of questions: 1) I posted one shot in the thread, can I change that? 2) Can the submitted shots be taken at any time up until the deadline do they have to be shot the first year of the camera's existence? Oh and thanks for doing this! Cheers, - Carl |

Bill, I realise I'm repeating myself, but images uploaded to the forum will be of too low a resolution to use in a printed book. To do this properly you need people to email you their finished images in a size to fill however much of the page they want to print at 300dpi - for a simple example if they want something to print 8 inches across on the page it should be 8 x 300 pixels wide, i.e. 2400.
Also colour images should be in sRGB colour space, anything else could lead to colour problems.

I seem to understand that Bill's idea is to make a sort of "test-book" with posted images, then, after selection, ask the specific pics to be published to be sent again - somewhere but not in the forum space - in the right format.

Depending on price (and assuming that at least one of my photos makes the cut...) I might buy anything from a couple to half a dozen copies of the book.

Jamie, my apologies to you and to Mark Norton. I'll ask him for permission to publish this pix.
You may change the pix you wish to post/print, yes. Make's sense. We'll have a complete list that all agree to before publising. Here is the process as I have worked it out, so far: M8 Anniversary Book Specifications Format: 10 x 8 horizontal, soft or hardcover available (see blurb.com for lots of details). Image Spec: 1. 10 x 8 landscape image, in JPG or PNG, sRGB format, 2884 x 2471 pixels. 2. The horizontal image will be full bleed (fill the entire page). 3. Portrait image will be lightly framed (haven’t worked the detail out yet) with a gray or white surround (please specify). 4. If the artist wants a horizontal image that does not fill the page, a similar presentation can be used (see 3, above). 5. Name of image on left page – multiple languages selected by photog. Supporting Details: Submit up to 3 photos 1. Name of Image – will appear on the left page. Text will be in the language chosen by the photog. 2. Detail for Appendix: a. Name of Image in original language, with translations, as desired. In Western alphabet, only. I am not a magician. b. Name of Artist(s), c. Tech details of the image: lens, iso, shutter, post-processing details, date of capture, location, more??? d. Contact info. I suggest email and (optional) snailmail addresses, e. Info about subject, if desired, f. Other, such as links to websites. 3. Copy of Model Release, if necessary. I will request this from you if I think it is necessary. Prerequisites: 1. Photos must first be posted in the LUF Photo Forum at: 2. All photos must have been posted no later than midnight (local time, you guys), Sunday, May 18, 2008. 3. Photos must be taken with a Leica M8.

No need to use CDs. I would have thought the best idea would be to send the full sized images to Bill via email.

People can post anything they like (taken with an M8) until May 18th. They can change their mind and indicate what the 3 photos they want are.
For sending, I thot of YouSendIt (I think that's the name and have used it before), but it takes a l-o-n-g time to up/download. That won't particularly bother the senders, but I could grow old and die downloading multi-mb pix. I'm open to suggestions but favor receiving CD/DVD media at this time. Thanks to Andy for making the thread sticky. Regards to all. What a great set of photos. Keep posting.

I note several new and wonderful images in the anniversary thread. Nice stuff!
I will add to the rules: all photos with no signature, ok?
