I'm sure it's more likely that after adding the framelines for the 24mm lens they didn't want the photographer to see 3 sets of framelines in the viewfinder - 24/35/135.

I'm guessing that the 135mm has never been a top seller, also using a 90mm on an M8 approximates to the use of a 135mm on a film M. The 5% may not be significant, but it is going to make things more difficult, no matter how slight.
