Well I have decided to get an M8, I am going to save up for a few months rather than whacking it on a credit card...for once!!
I have also come to the conclusion that for low light work I will need something else as well. So I returned my 25mm Panasonic f/1.4 lens today and used the credit to buy a Nikon D300 with a 50mm f/1.8 and the 17-35mm AF-S lens. The Digilux is a great camera at iso400 and below with some stunning results and a great feel to it, but it is heavy compared with an M8 and not really a street camera. For those that think the M8 is noisy at 1250 I would say the Digilux is noisier at 800iso. This is the D300 as a comparison at iso 2500, no noise reduction added, just converted from RAW to Jpeg. ![]() This is a nearly dark room, with just a couple of lamps on at the other end of it. |

Exposing normally, though I have my M8 constantly set at -1/3 ev. Best not to rely on auto though.

no compensation usually with 1250 +1 compensation (max) when using 2500 but this may vary a little depending of the importance of shadows.... best Maurizio |
