(with apologies to the OP) What noise ninja profile are you using? Last I checked they did not have an M8 profile. I know there were some posted in the forum a while back but are there any updated ones that I can use? Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Arif

Well I have decided to get an M8, I am going to save up for a few months rather than whacking it on a credit card...for once!!

I have also come to the conclusion that for low light work I will need something else as well.
So I returned my 25mm Panasonic f/1.4 lens today and used the credit to buy a Nikon D300 with a 50mm f/1.8 and the 17-35mm AF-S lens.

The Digilux is a great camera at iso400 and below with some stunning results and a great feel to it, but it is heavy compared with an M8 and not really a street camera.
For those that think the M8 is noisy at 1250 I would say the Digilux is noisier at 800iso.

This is the D300 as a comparison at iso 2500, no noise reduction added, just converted from RAW to Jpeg.

This is a nearly dark room, with just a couple of lamps on at the other end of it.

This again is a great B&W digital shot.... Personally I think the M8 is better at high ISO B&W than colour shots

It has a very good dynamic range no? (or am I wrong about this)

So are you guys using exposure compensation of +1/3, +2/3, or +1 when shooting at 1250 and 2500? Thanks.

Exposing normally, though I have my M8 constantly set at -1/3 ev. Best not to rely on auto though.

I use -1 compensation when using 640 in low light,

no compensation usually with 1250

+1 compensation (max) when using 2500

but this may vary a little depending of the importance of shadows....

best

Maurizio
