What is the M8 shutter release reaction time? That is, how long does it take from the instant the shutter release button is pressed until the shutter actually beings to take the picture?

Agreed, and if, like me, you used an M today then a G7, you realise just how quick it really is.
I'm sure someone will come along and tell you exactly, in metro-seconds or something, but I personally don't think in such diddy fractions. Regards, Bill

Yup, it's fast.
From a photographic perspective it's essentially instantaneous. It just sounds slow. ![]()

If you search the site, I think it was posted here at one time. It may have been around 25ms, while the fast SLRs are about 36ms.

Barry, that is more likely to be the re-cocking time that frustrates you (& me)!

I asked the same question when the M8 came out and never got an answer in milliseconds. Having used the M8, I would say it's the same as an M6. However, the rough and multistage shutter release is a burden.
