I can't really see how an issue with another manufacturer's product improves my M8 (which, by the way, works flawless so far - I would buy it again).

Who needs autofocus anyway? Just set to 2 mtr, f16 or higher if available and ISO2800 (or higher when the new and improved firmware allows) and bingo we have 0.8 - infinity in focus. This is the idiot-proof method, see the lens datasheets.
