Need assistance with M8

Hello all. I just received my used M8 I purchased from B&H Photo. The camera appears in very good shape, however I am not sure if I need an adapter ring or something else.

I have a Leitz / Summicron 1:2 50 mm (circa 1964) Lens attached, and it will not focus back beyond 12 feet (3.5m)? It seems the inner focus ring that mounts up against the body rotates against the "wheel" inside and stops. Is this normal? Do I need an adapter ring to push this out? Any help would be appreciated. This does not happen with the 35 mm 1:2.8 Leitz / Summaron (also circa 1964-69). Nor does it happen with my 90 mm 1:4 Leitz / Elmar . Looking for advise.. I guess I just want to make sure the camera is working as expected?

Thanks in advance.

Stuart

Thanks for the link, the lens does work, just cannot focus all the way down. Will wait till I have enough cash to replace with an alternate 50mm.

Thanks again

Stu

But... is really yours a Dual Range Summicron ? From the description in yout first post is not so clear... have you apicture of it ?

I have confirmed my lens is a dual range. I have fallen in love with the M8, using it with my 35 and 90 mm lenses. I decided not to damage or sell the 50 dual range ( I will still use it with my M4), I purchased a Jupiter 3 1.2 / 50mm. It's amazing lens and I really love the pictures it takes with the M8. I am enjoying the information I am finding on this forum.

Thanks a bunch

Stu
