kajkar Posted October 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) So, I bought a used M8 (original version) on Ebay in mint condition, but some images display a disturbing amount of artifacts and I would really appreciate some input on what that is, and if it's a sensor problem or something simpler (like no UV-filter). I attach a few pictures. I use a brand new Voigtländer 35/2.5 Color Skopar Pan II without an UV-filter since I still don't have one. The black-turning-purple is one thing, but these dots? Thanks! Edit: I shoot RAW. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Advertisement Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Hi kajkar, Take a look here M8 RAW artifacts. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pop Posted October 1, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 1, 2014 Nothing to get excited about. What you see is dirt on your sensor and your sensor needs cleaning. Dirt becomes more prominent when you shoot with your lens stopped down.
kajkar Posted October 1, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted October 1, 2014 Aha, ok. I have checked the sensor for dust but could not find any... my bad. Thank you for a swift response.
roguewave Posted October 1, 2014 Share #4 Posted October 1, 2014 Aha, ok. I have checked the sensor for dust but could not find any... my bad. Thank you for a swift response. You need to clean your sensor with a cleaning any of the vetted cleaning products. Check them out on the internet. Certain refined alcohol solutions leave the sensor clean, without residuals on the sensor.
kajkar Posted October 1, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted October 1, 2014 I did a quick "field cleaning" and it got better. I have some good cleaning stuff at home, but right now I'm on Svalbard and have to make due. Thank you both for pointing out the problem and solution! tobey bilek Posted November 7, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 7, 2014 Bought a used Nikon D3 once. Took me half a day to clean it. Never again.
