That's a really nice story.
It's so uplifting to hear of people who use whatever power and influence they have for the benefit of others, and society at large. Maybe I'm just not looking/listening in the right places, but it seems that stories like that are few and far between these days.

It's indeed a good story. There's lots of additional info available on Andrew Nemeth's site: Leica FAQ - Leica and the Nazis. You'll see that it has been discussed in this forum a couple of times, though unfortunately the links to some of the 2004 threads seem to not be working any more....
