The easiest way is to just drag a DNG file and drop it on the Preview icon. Handy for quickly reviewing files, although only one a time. Not sure if that answers the question. If not, try me again. Kent. |

Hi Eoin
I pretty much agree with your findings - I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I saw that the old converted dng files were still 'okay' - I half expected them to be unreadable. However, I had a saved Camera Default Profile for the old versions, and i think this needs to be changed for the new imports. What I did was to: 1. remove all adjustments 2. apply Apple profile 3. save as camera default profile I need to experiment more, but it seems to do a good job, but I found that I was getting moire with the old camera default profile and the 'full size' DNG files. Now I'm not As for unhacking the hack - do you think it's necessary? |

I've tested the unhack on a duplicate of my Library and processing 4000 files took a fair while 2-3 hours but everything worked as it should afterwards, I can't promise that will be the case for every single users library out there. So I guess I'm saying if you really really really feel the need I'll give the script to Ian and he can work his magic (Ian I'll email it to you tomorrow). |

Yes, that's working fine for me too. And if you increase the icon size a bit it makes quite a nice little multi-file preview. Thanks for the clarification, Kent. |

In finder menu click view, show view options, then in the popup click show icon preview then all the files will show previews and you can then set the icon size, sweet.

Such a relief that it actually reads the old conversions anyway. the new ones look pretty good to me, but it'll take a while to get used to. Thanks for all your help over this - glad to have 'stuck in there' |

Good point - it was too late to play around last night. Excellent news if Aperture now supports DMR users too...

Sadly as usual, it seems there is no free lunch. the update runs fine on my Core-duo2 iMac and I will in all probability switch from C1+iPhoto+PSE4 to Aperture. However since the update, my 1.4 Ghz G4 iBook is running like it is immersed in Treacle. I am just running all the utilities, defrags and scripts to see if it will speed up but not looking good at the moment. It is quite significant. Running the usual test tasks such as a Noise Ninja filter in PSE4 are about 150 - 200% slower. Maybe it is Apple's way of forcing me to buy a Macbook but I don't like the shiny screen and the Macbook Pro's are too big.

Wilson- Did you run a "repair privileges" in disk utility? This can be a source of slowing down the system when upgrading the OS. best....Peter

In fact, DMR images don't even show in the Finder preview, or iPhoto, or Preview.
The only way they show is if you have used Lightroom to import them from your card and let Adobe handle what Apple can't be bothered to. I am not a happy camper. How did you import your images, Joe?
