Default viewfinder for tri elmar on M8

Would a 25mm Voigtlander viewfinder make sense for a 16-18-21 tri elmar
on an M8?

I am not sure I need the expense or precision of the variable viewfinders.

Hi Gary
If you haven't already bought the lens without the viewfinder, I'd get the new Leica one, it may LOOK ugly, but it certainly works beautifully - the spirit level in the viewfinder is a real treat, and with mine (at least) the framelines are really accurate. I tried the older leica variable finder, and it was pants in comparison to the new one.

Yes, I think so. I had a Leica 24 finder already and it worked perfectly with the M8/ WATE: the full finder easily shows the 16/21, the outside edges of the 24-lines show the 18/24 and the inside of the lines shows the 21/28 pretty accurately. I tried the 21-24-28 finder and decided the 24 actually worked better, was smaller and seemed brighter. I have not looked through a 25; if it is as sloppy in framing as the 24 finder was for the 24/2.8, you should be able to do it. Lots of people like the convenience of the finder that was designed specifically for the WATE and you may want to look through one to decide if smaller is better.

Joe

I have the 21-24-28mm Vario-finder and maybe it's not perfect, it works great with the M8 & WATE.
