Default Leitz LTM adapters and hand-coding for the M8

Hi. I am reading everything I can find about hand-coding lenses for the M8 and LTM/M adapters.

I was wondering if someone that has done it, or that has access to both an adapter and an M8 (I don't, yet :-) could clarify to me whether I understood which adapters are suitable for hand-coding and which are not.

If I got it right, this adapter is suitable http://www.fotokor.com/images/big/ringm32890.jpg, while the following one is not: http://www.fotokor.com/images/big/ringm2850.jpg

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,
Luca

You got it. You want the older Leitz adapters WITHOUT the cutout. These are comparatively rare. Nobody manufactures a new version but I imagine one of our Chinese friends will eventually, including milled spots for DIY lens coding. I don't believe our far east bretheran understand the intricacies of copyright law.

Or at least, I hope so ......just kidding, Christian
