Default WATE for 2.200£/2500€/3500usd ? good buy ?

Hi there,

Been contemplating buying a WATE for a while : one of my most often used lens on my M8 is the CV15mm which well, suffered a bit of an accident and has no front cap plus the M adaptor was stuck already two times in my M8...

So my favorite dealer and I got to a point that he has a demo WATE, boxed, with the frankenfinder, for well 2200£ / 2500€ / 3500 usd...

Is that a good buy these days ? Seems so, specially because it includes DHL shipping to Portugal with that price.

What you guys think ? Should I bit the bullet and say the wife that my credit card has been lost at a Leica store again ?

Jaap,

Let me know your adress details to leave you in my will, which will be done by the end of the month.

I asked my dealer to hold the WATE for me and paid for a John Millich adapter as well ( seems mandatory rather than the humongous Leica silly filter solution ).~

Ah... so nice NOT to have disposable income for a couple of months... And thinking what my next lens will be

That is a good buy.
I have a friend who got one for under $2,500 US But that was on Craig's list and probably someone needing cash very fast.
The lens is definitely worth it when the finder is included. I really like the finder with the bubble level.
Forget all the talk about wives, if you don't like the lens, you can resell it.

Domestic matters aside, IMO it's a good buy. I purchased mine 2 years ago from Classic Camera in London, also a demo w/finder all in mint condition for about the same price, GBP2, 200.00.

This must be a very favourable offer. I gave about 27% more when buying my WATE together with my M8 (both new), in what was then, reckoned to be a good deal. - I bought them tax free in Singapore. The WATE is ideal with the M8. I have not missed Full Frame for a minute. I regarded the M8/WATE combo to be among the very best digital wide angle solutions on the market. Despite being a zoom, it draws in a very distinct Leica way. Mine is on the M8 60% of the time.
