nomad_writer Posted March 30, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, I have an M6 TTL that I've now had repaired twice and am still not convinced is working as should be. The exposure meter seems out by two to three stops I think. The symptoms that make me think this are: - if I compare it to a sekonic light meter reading (even accounting for reflected light) it seems way out. - comparing the metering against an analogue and a digital camera it seems out - and when I put the TTL flash on it it seems to think it's on ISO 64 rather than 400. My questions are - do you think given the above something is wrong? And, is there a better way to test and verify what's up for myself? Many thanks, Fraser
Advertisement Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Hi nomad_writer, Take a look here M6 TTL Light Meter Issues. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
madNbad Posted March 30, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2015 The information from the ISO dial is not being transmitted to the meter. First try cleaning the contacts on the body and the door with an eraser and some alcohol.
nomad_writer Posted March 30, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted March 30, 2015 Will give it a shot but would have to say when I turn the ISO dial it changes on the flash, but three steps behind if you get my drift.
madNbad Posted March 30, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 30, 2015 That sounds like more than dirty contacts. Apparently something was misaligned during one of the repairs. Are the shutter speeds correct?
nomad_writer Posted March 30, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted March 30, 2015 Ugh - the shutter speed was something they fixed and as far as I know the shutter speeds are accurate but the meter seems off.
KAD Posted March 31, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 31, 2015 I have a M6TTL myself with some of the same issues. I have not tried with flash, but without it was 2 stops off. I opened up the ISO dial and put it together again. It now seems to be OK, wich mean that my assumption that ISO dial was missplaced previusly might be correct.
