PCR Posted December 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, to anyone who is getting annoyed from the scratches which the metal eyepice do. you can change the metal eyepiece to the M6 rubber eyepiece. The spare part number is 442-299.055-000. It cost about 40 bucks. You only have to unscrew the old and onscrew the new one. greetings peter

KM-25 Posted December 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted December 8, 2014 So will my M3 eyepiece just outright unscrew then?
250swb Posted December 8, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 8, 2014 So will my M3 eyepiece just outright unscrew then? Ideally you need the correct tool so you can unscrew it and then tighten properly. But these are cheap on Ebay and if you are handy you can make one yourself. Steve
bocaburger Posted December 11, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 11, 2014 A long time ago I was told by two well-known US Leica repair people that an M6 eyepiece will screw onto an M3 but not work correctly. They said even the one for an 0.85x won't on the .91x M3. I have M6 eyepieces on my M4's and they are fine. When I had an M3 I bought a used diopter of the later type with rubber cladding, punched out the glass and screwed it into my M3's metal eyepiece. Although it did technically keep my glasses a bit farther from the eyepiece I could still see around the 50mm frame lines fine.
