erl Posted September 27, 2014 Share #11 Posted September 27, 2014 The M-A does not replace the M7. So decide which one serves your 'needs', or are you driven by 'wants'? If unsure, keep both, $'s permitting.
Doc Henry Posted September 27, 2014 Share #12 Posted September 27, 2014 Keep your M7 as light meter for your new MA. Arnaud Arnaud , I agree and i add .... with the M7 and lens, such as a 28 (works great on the M7, without external viewfinder) and a b&w film and a M-A a 50mm with color film Personally , I will do so on my next medical humanitarian mission, next year. If I think it will be good in b&w, I will use the b&w camera Regards Henry My last mission http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/landscape-travel/325507-pictures-mission.html

If unsure, keep both, $'s permitting. Erl,as I said to Arnaud, the M7 will serve me more to have 2 cameras with 2 kinds of film (b&w and color) , but if I have MA (current order) I will use as a measure of exposure as you said with a lens as ApoTelyt 135 or Apo Summicron 90, I like to photograph architecture of the pagodas for example, with its details, as I did in my last mission. .... and I agree with you, I'll keep both and the M-A is cheaper than a M240 and the general rendering is superior in film ! M7 + Summicron-M 28mm along with M-A + Summilux-M 50mm no need for batteries (well only 2 sets of DL 1/3 N, just in case, for a couple of grams weight) What is waiting time for your M-A ? Have a nice week-end, Arnaud
Doc Henry Posted September 27, 2014 Share #15 Posted September 27, 2014 Arnaud, as I am now a fan of film , I placed the order of M-A, as I said above. I am waiting ! I'll let you know. I have 7 lenses and I will choose one to put on the M-A. Have a nice w.e. too Arnaud Regards Henry
Michael Geschlecht Posted September 27, 2014 Share #16 Posted September 27, 2014 Hello Henry, Wouldn't it be better to use the 50mm lens on the M7 & the 28mmm lens on the M-A? My thought is that the angle of coverage of the meter with the 50mm lens is less. This allows a person to meter more selectively. Regardless of which lens is later used to take the photo. When the metered camera has the 28mm lens then the metering pattern covers a wider angle of view. Sometimes a meter which measures a wider angle of view can be less useful. Best Regards, Michael Thank you Michael, I'll try but I"ll compare pictures in changing lens about exposure. It's useful to notice your remark. Regards Henry Micheal, I just post a picture with Summicron 28 at f:2 aperture on the M7 "Auto" position post 1343 here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other/286747-i-like-film-open-thread-83.html#post2791399 what do you think ? it was 7 pm Edited September 28, 2014 by Doc Henry

Michael Geschlecht Posted September 28, 2014 Share #20 Posted September 28, 2014 Hello Henry, The combination of the M7 & 28mm lens is just fine. Nice photo. So are the others. My concern was using the 28mm lens to meter for the 50mm lens because: It is often easier to meter appropriately with reflected light metering if the meter is covering a smaller angle of view.
