NikonJeff Posted August 3, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I finally found a nice DS M3 body in very clean condition. I've been looking for quote a while and have been patiently waiting for one that was reasonable priced. I LOVE the look of the Special edition M7 in the Hermes Orange leather covering but have yet to find something comparable from Asahi-Aki or Cameraleathers. I've also communicated with the gentleman at Leica Leathers through FaceBook but all he has is a exotic lizard leather which doesn't appeal to me. I'm looking for a smooth or pebbled texture. Any suggestions besides actually contacting Hermes as I doubt that would have it anyway? Here is a photo of my new to me M3DS and the Hermes edition M7 orange Thanks! Jeff G. . Welcome, dear visitor! kivis Posted August 3, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2014 Check out Cameraleather.com That would be your only hope.
Stealth3kpl Posted August 3, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 3, 2014 You could try this fella [Arte di mano] Real leather skin for Leica new M(type240)/M8/M9/M9P/M9-mono/M-E | eBay Pete
NikonJeff Posted August 3, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted August 3, 2014 Totally forgot about the Arti de Mano stuff. I did contact CameraLeather and Morgan is going to email me a color swatch for a brighter orange than he has on the site. The one shown for Arti de Mano is a darker orange than I'm looking for...
Stealth3kpl Posted August 3, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 3, 2014 I thought it might be worth asking if they have something more 'Hermes'. Pete

madNbad Posted August 5, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 5, 2014 Cameraleather has a posting on the website today stating there were server problems and they (well, Morgan) are accepting orders.
Leica Fanatic Posted August 6, 2014 Share #10 Posted August 6, 2014 Jeff, You say you've looked at Aki-Asahi but he has a couple of orange looking coverings on his page here http://aki-asahi.com/store/html/no_cut_leather/UncutLeather.php

NikonJeff Posted August 6, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted August 6, 2014 Thanks guys - i did end up ordering the "Camel" smooth calfskin cover and should see it in a few days… I really like thje bright orange of the special edition M7 but the closest I could come to it was a lizard skin and that's just not for me. If the Camel skin doesn't work Morgan from Cameraleather as an orange option that might be a little better. I figure for $29 I'd order the one from Asahi first… On a side note the M3 DS that I bought off eBay arrived today from japan - it only took THREE days to arrive! It's beautiful and all for less than $600 shipped! Jeff G. Just one slightly worrying thought. Have you ordered an M3 covering or the uncut sheet on the pages shown? I panicked for one moment that you'd ordered from the page I'd linked to, which was just for uncut sheets, but your order says M3 bhuddas ear strap lugs and camel. I apologise immensley if you panicked as well.

NikonJeff Posted August 18, 2014 Author Share #18 Posted August 18, 2014 Bummer - the cover kit from aki-asahi was damaged in shipping (creased REALLY bad)… So now I'm waiting to see if it will be covered by insurance on their end or what ever… Guess I'll send the M3 into Youxin for a CLA and have him remove the vulcanite ($20 fee seems to be worth every penny)… To be continued...
Leica Fanatic Posted August 19, 2014 Share #19 Posted August 19, 2014 Bummer indeed. What's the chance of that. Did the kit and color look good though?
NikonJeff Posted August 19, 2014 Author Share #20 Posted August 19, 2014 The kit and color looked nice - definitely tan not orange but the quality looked really nice. It came pretty fast too but the creasing was just horrible. Looked like it got caught in the door of a Fedex truck Welcome, dear visitor!
