daleeman Posted April 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got my M2 back from Youxin Ye after doing a CLA and recover. I have never held a brand new M2, I am almost old enough but could never have afforded one back then. Holding and using the one after Youxin worked on mine is like a dream. I had slowly surrendered myself to breaking off chuncks of the vulcanite evey time I picked it up. Struggled to open the base plate lock, felt the slop in the winder handle and many other quirks it had developed. When I saw this M2 CLA'd and recovered I thought I better look for the hang tag because it felt brand new.... to me. Some may insist that even a partial covering of the original skin is better than a false recovering but I am not one. It is as close to original as possible and I like it. Youxin Ye had also CLA'd and recoved my father's IIIF RDST and it is as it was when I tearned how to do photography on it with my father's guiding hands ever so close. It is very nice to have these gems back in tip top shape. Just love shooting with them. Lee
Advertisement Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Hi daleeman, Take a look here CLA on my M2 Body. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bephoto Posted April 20, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 20, 2014 Cheers camera is like a car, keep it serviced and in tip top shape always. some people go romantic about not changing parts and leaving it at original state, but hey a camera is to be used not shelved. a car with rusty motor won't get you anywhere. friedeye Posted April 26, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 26, 2014 I, too, will sing Youxin's praises. He does amazing work, quickly, and for a fair price. My M3 is like new after his CLA. He's so good, he tempts me to buy neglected Ms off Ebay and have him restore them, just because I hate to see beautiful neglected cameras and would revel in their rebirth at his touch. Mrclubike Posted April 28, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 28, 2014 He was very fast. Packed well and gives you a overall condition of your equipment. I wish he did Nikon

This is what a number of well reknown dealers do regularly as part of their business... : I bought my new M 240 from a dealer who is well into the Leica Oldies Market , during the negotiation, I showed him my battled M2 (problems on long times, on covering, on RF)... he was quick to explain me that, in case I wasn't intersted to keep it, He could buy it for X, have it CLAed for Y, sell it for Z = X+Y+m ... normal business for him. spydrxx Posted April 28, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 28, 2014 I recently bought an M2 from a 3rd party which Mr. Ye had CLA'd about a year before...smooth as silk. I sent him a Canon P to CLA for me, and it came back in short order feeling like that M2....destined to become a favorite with me for some of my Leica screwmount lenses. essvaun Posted May 19, 2014 Share #7 Posted May 19, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) On the down side he did tell me that I'd need to send my M3 back to him in about 20 years for a check up.
daleeman Posted May 20, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted May 20, 2014 Never thought about buying a basket case M6 for him to breath new life into it.
