I am looking at purchasing a M4P. Its an early number 1551xxx

Any M4P I have seen has the Red Leica Logo on the front left side of the body. This one does not. Was the Logo not on all M4P's ?

Anything I should look for?

Thank You

Perhaps this M4-P "started" as an M4-2 and got it´s M4-P topcover later on in life.

Never saw an M4-P without the front logo. But VERY early ones could have been released without.

In case I would be in the market for one, I would have a look at a later M4-P, some aspects were

technically improved during production, AFAIK. I got a # 1,650,xxx and it´s a beauty, never gave me any trouble.

Best

I agree with Steve that it most likely was recovered. Here's a 70th anniversary M4P that was recovered. It's pretty handsome, imho.

Yes very much so. I have one of the last that is an M6 in all but meter and engraving and they did throw off the M4-2 legacy as production went along. I think the M4-P is a very fine camera, the internals are made robust enough to withstand a motordrive and the frame lines match those of the modern era.

It was only the first batrch of M4-2 that had a bit of trouble mine was after those and has been perfect apart from the frame counter, but my M4-P is a beauty 70 year anniversary
