M2 is still a great piece of hardware

When I started to shot I did with a reflex (a nikon, can anybody excuse me? :-) after a while I move to digital Pentax (a great camera) and finally to the M9 which was and is my best friends. Recently I get back to film and a M2 in good condition came in my hands. In theory was just to have a piece of history in my house but day by day, rolls after rolls I realize that I got a great camera that became obsolete just because our life became too fast and many dislike to wait some days from the moment the shutter bottom is released and the film is developed.

So happy of my M2 ;) and my son looks really good :D

Very nice picture (and son)! I agree that cameras like the M2 are as usable today as then, just out of style. I first used an M2 in 1965 or 66 (when I had a Pentax H1a), and it lured me into Leica ownership when the M4 came out. I used both Leica and Pentax through the film years.

Now, besides my M9, I also have a Pentax K-5, and it still has great "feel" (as Pentax always had), and can turn out very nice images. But I seldom use it, as I don't like all the automation, and it doesn't work well with my old manual focus lenses.

But there is still something about shooting film cameras, and I also prefer to shoot my M4 or M6, and even the old Pentax H1a. All still turn out images as compelling as ever, and using them calms the soul.

Obsolete?? What on earth are you saying!

The many M2 users of which I'm one aren't using an obsolete camera. It's like saying theatre is obsolete because we have You Tube.

I'm glad you've 'found' film, but some of us have never left it.

Oh yes, I know that is not "obsolete" because I am using on daily basis :D . But is often interesting to talk with people that feel old anything is not a full frame reflex with 11 autofocus point and I do know what more.
