mirekti Posted August 21, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 21, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I understand one can easily remove the white color from the black M with a toothpick. Does anyone know what exactly Leica uses to color the M letter back to white? (in case one decides to color it back)

AceVentura1986 Posted August 22, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 22, 2014 I removed the lettering from my M8 years ago and never looked back. Used a toothpick and took me about a minute to accomplish. Note, this was the original chrome version so no body paint underneath to rub off. I've read, though, that you can use regular, white enamel paint that's readily available in any art supply store.
MarkP Posted August 22, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 22, 2014 I also removed the front white M9 lettering from my M9 as soon as I got it - also took a minute or so with a wooden toothpick. I've kept the black M on the chrome M240.
Echo63 Posted August 29, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 29, 2014 I finally did mine the other day (have had the camera for 6 months) i much prefer the look without the white lettering (i must be weird though, i filled the serial number on the hotshoe with black paint) no idea what the M is filled with, but have had good luck filling engravings with nail polish. its cheap, comes with a brush, and is easily removed (nail polish remover, although this may affect painted surfaces)
swamiji Posted August 30, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 30, 2014 It's filled with the same stuff they use to fill in the dots on dice. If you want to put it back or change the color you can go to a game shop and pick up a stick.
