I know apple does Just thought (and I am sure not the 1st one) that would be nice to have live view where you can focus on other than the central part ..... Agreed, but it'll never happen on the M240.
vk2109 Posted April 23, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted April 23, 2014 why not ?
keithlaban.co.uk Posted April 23, 2014 Share #4 Posted April 23, 2014 I'm sure if it were technically possible Leica would have delivered it at the outset. That said, if I could have any feature added to the M then moveable focus point in liveview would be the one.

jaapv Posted April 24, 2014 Share #6 Posted April 24, 2014 It has been discussed before (extensively) and according to Leica it is technically not possible
Exodies Posted April 24, 2014 Share #7 Posted April 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does that imply that it is implemented in hardware?
jaapv Posted April 24, 2014 Share #8 Posted April 24, 2014 No idea. It implies it is not possible.
pieterpronk Posted April 24, 2014 Share #9 Posted April 24, 2014 A suggestions site... We've been hammering Leica about fixing (and yes from the viewpoint of many it's something that needs fixing) auto-iso on this and other forums, as well as personal talks with dealers and even higher up managers within Leica, as well as mails and telephone calls... But somewhere on the world wide web there is a hidden away Leica suggestions site, where Dieter (the firmware guy) checks diligently every morning if anybody has any suggestions for making the firmware better, but he never gets any new suggestions, and thus hardly ever releases any firmware updates... M9, MM, M240 users have been knocking on the wrong door all this time... We need to find this Leica suggestions site!
mfunnell Posted April 24, 2014 Share #10 Posted April 24, 2014 We need to find this Leica suggestions site!It exists. It's real. The output goes >/dev/null ...That's just how it works
ttheinz Posted April 24, 2014 Share #11 Posted April 24, 2014 It has been discussed before (extensively) and according to Leica it is technically not possible Is this the same Leica that said a digital M wasn't possible?
jaapv Posted April 24, 2014 Share #12 Posted April 24, 2014 Possibly - this part-quote has its own life. They said it was not possible to their standard with level of technology of the day. Which translates to that they were still developing the shifted-microlens technology together with Kodak and were not quite there yet.
