In Norway an M240 will cost nearly as much as a round of drinks

I find it amazing that there are M240's available off the shelf, when some poor folks have been and still are waiting after having ordered it close to a year ago. Not making for happy bunny customers.

Hi Steven

Will be in HK in Dec, which dealers are offering discounts and how much is the average discount?

Thanks

Message me closer to the time and I will give you some suggestions as inventory changes on a daily basis, but 20%-30% off MSRP is not hard to find. Just stay away from the tourist camera stalls in TST...nothing but bait and switch or worse...

Default AW: M (240) Deliveries

Got my M240 yesterday in Berlin, having ordered it in April, yes in April 2013! Since there are many complaints about deliveries in Germany, too, it would be too simple to say that getting a M240 in Germany is easier per se. Nevertheless, I was told that things are slowly getting better, but what can this really mean for those who are waiting since their orders dating back to summer last year...

Battery is fully charged, at cloudless 90 degrees F there will be a nice stroll to the near countryside this afternoon, not only with the WATE, but most probably with the entire lens equipment. Ingo

I received my black M in Australia after ordering in April and apparently I was near the top of the list of those waiting.
I know of one store in Sydney that received about 8 and a store in Melbourne that received 6 in the last few weeks, so they are coming!

Anyone had their order fulfilled by Red Dot, London, that they placed this year?

I paid deposit in April for chrome and am wondering how close I'm getting.

Default AW: M (240) Deliveries

Ordered mine in October in Berlin as well - was offered a black one in early May and got my silver M last week.

I think Leica Meister is the only serious dealer in Berlin for Leica products.

Just curious KH... Are you there yet?

As you know, I ordered the day of the announcement (a day before you) from the same dealer and we still wait. Its going on 6 months after release and others around the world are able to get one just by stumbling through the Amsterdam airport at the right time. Not the dealer's fault, but the combination of Leica's failure to deliver the M to its dealers and loyal customers in an orderly fashion and the prospect of a FF Nex at a - rumored - price of $4,000 less available in a couple months has about done it for me.

Leica has the same issue with M8 and M9 but they doesn't seem to find a way to better handle the situation. Personally, I don't mind the wait if their dealer's handle the situation better. If they can provide updates or detail about what is going on with the order and set a good expectation, I would not be too frustrated by the wait.

I have much better experience with Ferrari as they give you updates and invitation to events to keep you interested and let you know what is going on with your pre-order new models or order of existing model.

I don't see the same care given to Leica customers. If they are charging that much for a camera, they need something to differentiate from the FF Nex.

I received mine (BLACK) last week after waiting only 6 weeks. I was advised that changing my order from silver to black would get it in my hands earlier and that has been the case as I was told originally it would not be here before late September. I am in Brisbane, Australia at present.

I think Meister Camera is the most serious dealer in Europe.
Meister Camera has three stores in Germany. I bought the Leica M via Meister Camera in Hamburg. I'm living in Turkey. I ordered a Leica M in September-2012 without payment. Meister Camera sent me a e-mail when my camera arrives the store. After one week i flew to Hamburg, and buy it.

Btw, I have the impression from earlier posts that the retail price for Leica products are generally higher in Nordic region, could anyone share any insights please? Thanks!
For your information, you will not be able to get an M in the Heathrow duty free shopping area. The only shop selling cameras is Dixons and they are by no means a specialist camera store .... just general electronics. I have seen a couple of Leica point and shoot cameras in there, but no chance of an M. I went through Munich last week and they had a small Leica cabinet, but no M. I seem to remember that the general electronics shop in Frankfurt have a Leica section and I have seen an M-E in there.

This is the company you want. If you want to make sure of your purchase you should order beforehand:

Hi folks,

Cautionary tale - l was one of those that had been waiting half a life time and the patience was about done. Final straw, reading on here about someone (good luck to him) who had only been on a list for a couple of months and had got his beast.

Took the decision, l've had enough l'm off to buy a Fuji X1-Pro. Go onto a well known UK site, the whole kit is in stock and if l order before 4.00pm, it will be delivered by Special Delivery before 1.00pm the following day. Just about to hit the "confirm purchase" button, when l begin to think again, no,no l will press it, l've waited long enough. Shall l shan't l - being a decisive sort of fellow, l decide to sleep on it and make my decision the following morning.

Get up bright and early - l will buy the X1-Pro. Onto computer, to find e-mail from Leica dealer telling me my Silver M is in stock, and do l still want it ! What a lucky fellow am l.

Lesson - indecision sometimes rules, OK.

Hi there,

No, not really. In a way I am having too much fun with other stuff.
I have not been paying a lot of attention anymore if and when the Leica M will show up.
In fact I wouldn't mind first finding out if and when and what Leica's next firmware update will bring?

Fun stuff to do:

• Shooting lots of hummingbirds with my D800E + AF-S 80-400 lens,
now that the left autofocus issue has been successfully repaired.

• same with OM-D E-M5 + new 75-300 II lens, effectively 600 mm 135 film reach.
L1001999_1024x710.jpg
Shot with M9

• same with Leitz 560/6.8 with Novoflex Slow Focusing Tube. I slightly enhanced it with RRS stuff to make it functional.
_DSC4245_1024x547.jpg

Here is a ten mile landscape shot with the 560/6.8 on NEX-7.
DSC01129_1024x683.jpg
I like the signature of this old lens.

• shooting video clips with a Casio camera at 120, 240, 420, and 1000 frames per second.
Looks pretty good up to 240 frames per second, 420 is still useful though, hummer in slow motion, nice!

• working methodically through 3 books about LR5. It looks like I finally get the hang of it.

Also the rumored FF Nex looks very interesting.
I hope it sees the light of day soon.
There will be no problem for me finding something useful that the camera excels in.

For WA shots, well, I still have and keep my M9.

Life is great!

Another issue that may be affecting delivery times is that Leica are now asking dealers for payment in advance, rather than on the normal 30-day credit terms. In the current financial climate (ie, absence of bank lending) this means that dealers are going to find it hard buy more than a few bodies at a time, particulalry when they have no idea when they will be delivered.

The dealer I got my M from a week or so ago got his invoice when the product was available for shipment to him from Leica USA. Of course, that was in the US, things might be different elsewhere.
